So we hire a new guy at work and on his first day (that’s today) he brings his Apple iPhone.
Barely containing the drool, I had a quick play with it and took a few photos for your viewing pleasure.
You can get a good idea of its size here on my desk, next to a CD, an A4 notepad, and my PC keyboard.
It doesn’t support WPA Enterprise, so we couldn’t connect to the corporate WiFi network at work, and without EDGE support, we couldn’t use the maps application. But it was so nice to play with. The two-finger gestures for zooming when viewing photos are great.
Being a kiwi, he wasn’t able to pass a credit check to sign up on plan for two years, so it’s on prepay.
It’s got the album cover flippy thing going on here in iPod mode. The earbuds have a microphone with a call answer/music pause/start button thingy.
iWant. That last photo makes it look quite small actually. What was the surface like? Is it pretty solid and glassy feeling, or is there a little give in it?
Yeah – I’m glad they changed the screen surface to glass – it feels good and solid.
I can imagine it wouldn’t feel anywhere near as solid if it were some sort of plastic.
The unit itself is actually fairly weighty, i.e. heavier than a cellphone. I guess it’s about as heavy as an iPod.
Yo Danimation, that iphone is pretty cool, hopefully someone will hack it so that he can stick a Vodafone sim card in it.
OH-EM-GEE!! That’s is soo awesome!
Is your office in Auckland? Can I come visit? Ahh!
Lol, so sorry. But yea I’d love to spend a day at a real design agency π
Hi Ludwig,
Thanks for stopping by!
I must say I’m pretty impressed by your work – I first came across your site after reading your interview with Jeff Croft.
I’ve added you to my twitter friends – stay in touch!

Dan.

The link on the Parallel Imports home page to the iphone is broken π
They’re spelled their own domain name wrong in the link embedded in the flash banner. Pfft.
